Analytics
WikiPeptide uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymised usage data. GA4 is only activated after you explicitly accept cookies via the consent banner. If you decline or have not yet made a choice, no analytics scripts are loaded and no data is sent to Google.
What data is collected
When you accept analytics, Google Analytics collects the following categories of data:
- Page views and navigation paths
- Session duration and engagement time
- Approximate country (derived from IP address; IP is not stored)
- Device type and browser (e.g. mobile / desktop, Chrome / Safari)
- Referral source (how you arrived at the site)
No names, email addresses, or other personally identifiable information are collected. IP addresses are anonymised by Google before storage.
How to opt out
- Decline at the banner: If you click "Decline" on the cookie consent banner, analytics will not be loaded and no data will be sent.
- Withdraw consent: Clear your browser's localStorage for this site
(browser DevTools → Application → Local Storage → delete the
cookie_consentkey). The banner will reappear on next visit. - Browser-level opt out: Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to block GA4 across all sites.
Data sharing
No personal data is sold or shared with third parties. Aggregated, anonymised analytics data is processed by Google under their standard data processing terms. WikiPeptide does not use any advertising networks, retargeting pixels, or social media tracking scripts.
Cookies
WikiPeptide stores a single entry in your browser's
localStorage
(cookie_consent)
to remember your analytics preference. This is not a cookie and is not transmitted
to any server. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics may set its own cookies
(_ga,
_ga_*)
on your device, governed by Google's privacy policy.
